What a bitter end to Shashi and Sunanda saga, one had to resign and other gave away her “sweat equityâ€. Yeah, Shashi Tharoor resigned from the Union ministry and his resignation was gladly accepted by Sonia Gandhi and our PM Manmohan Singh.
Didn’t expected it to end this way, thought the couple will get married and live happily ever after, with their hidden hard earned equity’s. But jassi karni wasi bharni! Still I reckon it is bit harsh to accept his resignation, he deserves one more chance. We have much bigger chors in our politics spared, than why not Shashi?
Now I would love to see Lalit Modi being pulled down by I-T people and BCCI asking his resignation, he’s also not dodh ka dhola!
Shashi Tharoor’s fate was sealed on Sunday at the core committee meeting, when finance minister Pranab Mukherjee and defence minister A K Antony, the two-member probe team on Tharoor’s conduct, submitted a damning report.
Contrary to the junior minister’s claim of "arm’s-length mentoring" of Kochi group, the findings said he actively negotiated the "sweat equity" for Pushkar. He had, in fact, asked for 10% for Pushkar while the deal was finally settled at 5%. This revelation was crucial in reaching the decision that Tharoor had to go.
Tharoor, who’d earlier got into trouble over his tweets, cattle-class and staying in a five-star hotel, got embroiled in a controversy around the ownership of Kochi, one of two IPL teams auctioned recently.
He had denied any role other than "mentoring" the successful bidders – a consortium including girlfriend Sunanda Pushkar, a Dubai-based Canadian citizen of Kashmiri descent.
The franchise became an issue after IPL boss Lalit Modi exposed its ownership on Twitter on April 11.
