Repeat of 2005, Liverpool and AC Milan in UEFA Champions League Final

May 2nd, 2007

300px-Liverpool_Champions_LeagueAfter two years, Once again Liverpool is going to face AC Milan in the final of UEFA Champions League Final. The memories of 2005 UEFA Champions League Final is still very fresh in our mind when after being 3-0 down to AC Milan at half time, Liverpool  staged an incredible comeback to level at 3-3 in normal time. With no goals being scored in 30 minutes of extra time, the match was decided by a penalty shootout which Liverpool won 3-2 and thus lifted the trophy for the fifth time. This match is considered to be one of the greatest dramas in the history of football.

Manchester United started the semi-final with aggregate 3-2 up but very quickly in just half an hour they were 4-3 down in aggregate and finally lost to AC Milan by 3-0.  AC Milan dominated the whole match and didn’t allow Manchester United to develop their attacking game. Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo who were the architect of Manchester United’s success in first leg at Old Trafford saw very little of the ball and were hardly in the game.

Last night When Chelsea stumbled to take the advantage of first leg (1-0)aggregate, I had a fear in my mind that this can happen to Manchester United as well, and that is what exactly happened. Both the team could not take the advantage of their first leg aggregate.

Waiting for the repeat of 2005 UEFA Champions League Final .
