Eden Gardens with in ICL reach

In a big boost for the Indian Cricket League the West Bengal government has decided to extend its full support to the Essel group promoted twenty20 tournament.

NDTV has quoted West Bengal Sports Minister Subash Chakraborty as saying that they have decided to provide all the stadiums under the government control for the league matches of the ICL.That also includes the world class Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Chakraborty has also added that the state players who had joined ICL will get full support from the government.

Former India player Deep Dasgupta, Laxmi Ratan Shukla and youngster Abhishek Jhunjunwala are among the prominent cricketers from the state to join ICL.

On the other hand,  it turns out that Bengal all-rounder Laxmi Ratan Shukla may pull out of the Indian Cricket League. Speaking to NDTV in Kolkata on Thursday, the 26-year-old said that he will announce his decision on Friday. On Wednesday night, Cricket Association of Bengal Joint Secretary Samar Pal had told NDTV that Shukla’s parents were not keen on him joining the ICL and wanted him to continue playing for Bengal.
