Ex-Israel coach Avram Grant, 51, will be the new Chelsea manager.
According to the Garry Richardson of BBC Sport, Chelsea’s director of football Avram Grant is set to take over as new manager following the shock departure of Jose Mourinho.
Avram Grant, who was the director of football, will now take charge with Steve Clarke as his assistant.
Ex-Israel coach Grant, 51, was appointed by Chelsea at the start of this season and holds a place on the club’s board. Mourinho had opposed his appointment during a long standoff with Abramovich last season but appeared to have accepted his arrival at the start of the season.
Jose Mourinho had recently warned Avram Grant not to interfere with his job.
Mourinho said:
He’s here to give some support to different areas in the club and for me that is not a problem. From my point of view, he must not interfere with the power I have in relation to my job.”
Chelsea have confirmed that Avram Grant has replaced Jose Mourinho as the new manager at Stamford Bridge
