Maneka Gandhi confirmed the news that his son Varun Gandhi will soon tie the knot with a Bengali girl Yamini Roy Chowdhury,a graphic designer.Maneka wife of late Sanjay Gandhi is a BJP MP from Aonla parliamentary constituency. Varun represents Pilibhit Lok Sabha constituency and was appointed national secretary by the BJP in March this year.
Yamini is the only daughter of late diplomat Sunil Roy Chowdhury and film enthusiast Dr Aruna Vasudev. The wedding is set to take place in February-March, venue would be Delhi.
Varun and Yamini have known each other since 2005, when he was introduced to her at a function in New York. Yamini is said to be a “quiet girl†who loves art , dance and literature and has no interest whatsoever in politics. She is trained in fine arts and graphics from Sorbonne University in Paris after graduating in philosophy from St Stephen’s College, Delhi, and speaks French, Spanish, English, Hindi and Bengali. And more importantly, she is a vegetarian, which, according to her friends, she has been since childhood and 
“has nothing to do with Varun and Maneka being hardcore vegetarians.â€
"Varun will get married with Yamini, who hails from Bengal, this year," Maneka, the estranged daughter-in-law of late prime minister Indira Gandhi, told reporters in reply to a question.
"All members of the Gandhi family including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul will be invited to attend the marriage function," she added.
Varun had attended the marriage of his cousin Priyanka Gandhi in 1997 as a teenager despite strained ties between the families though Maneka had stayed away.
