Manasvi Mamgai, 22, Himalyan beauty is crowned Pantaloons Femina Miss India (PFMI) World 2010 at a gala event on Friday night. She will now represent India at the global pageant later this year.
Neha Hinge, 23, was crowned Miss India International 2010, while Nicole Faria, 20, is Miss India Earth 2010.
A bevy of Bollywood stars like Shahid Kapoor, Salman Khan, Lara Dutta, Neha Dhupia and Vivek Oberoi mesmerised the audience with their performances.
The contestants dazzled in beautiful creations by designers Ritu Kumar and Anita Dongre. For the final round, the ladies were dressed in the Cocktail Silver Collection by Ritu Kumar.
The 18 finalists were judged by personalities like Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, writer Chetan Bhagat, tennis star Sania Mirza, boxer Vijender Singh, director Anurag Basu, designer Ritu Beri and actor Kunal Kapoor.
Hosts Rohit Roy looked dashing in a maroon sherwani and Mandira Bedi shimmered in an orange sari. Both welcomed the guests, the 18 beautiful girls clad in golden two-piece ensembles performed to a medley of hits. Then it was the turn of contestant director and fashion director Marc Robinson to take a bow as the girls walked the ramp wearing the Timeless Collection by Anita Dongre and accessorised by jewellery from Collection G with Gitanjali and World Gold Council and shoes by Tresmode.
The pageant has formalised its tie-up with the Hindi film industry, Film-makers Madhur Bhandarkar and Vipul Amrutlal Shah shortlisted six finalists, of whom two lucky girls will be crowned Pantaloons Femina Miss India 2010 Bollywood Diva. Each will feature in a film by these directors. However, the names of these 2 lucky girls will be revealed on May 16.
This year, Sushmita Sen’s production company Tantra Entertainment has been awarded the India franchise to select participant for the Miss Universe contest and the winner will represent India at the international pageant. As a result, the Miss Universe title at the pageant was replaced by Miss International.
Mamgai has also represented India at the 12th Miss Tourism International pageant and won, which was held on December 31, 2008 at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The pagent had 43 contestants from all over the world. She became the second Indian to win this title after Candice Pinto in 2001. She also won the voters choice Miss Popularity award.
