Actually the lunar crater was named after SRK on his 44th birthday on November 2/2009, but has just been approved. Finally he proved that he is the first permanent Bollywood actor.
SRK’s newest honour has been bestowed on him by the International Lunar Geographic Society (ILGS) in New York. They christened a crater in the Sea of Tranquility on the moon after the star. This has now been approved by the International Astronomical Union, which has a final say with regard to the naming of craters on the moon.
The S R Khan Crater is part of the Arago crater group, named for Franasois Jean Dominique Arago, a Catalan-French mathematician, physicist, astronomer and politician.
Bollywood and fans used Twitter to pass on congratulatory notes to King Khan –
Director Mahesh Bhatt tweeted, "So far, dingy streets in Mumbai were named after Bollywood icons and that too posthumously. SRK has won the moon for Bollywood!"
Director Ken Ghosh tweeted, "A true success story SRK once said he would own Mumbai. Today owns a part of the moon!" (sic).
