Sir Roger was guest of honour at the 52nd Annual Thalians Gala Ball at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. He was awarded with a lifetime achievement award for his services to UNICEF. He also was awarded a knighthood in 2003 for his work with UNICEF.

The Gala was a star-studded extravaganza featuring four former Bond girls;

• Gloria Hendry starred as Rosie Carver in Live and Let Die, 1973

• Lois Chiles appeared as Dr Holly Goodhead in Moonraker in 1979

• Maude Adams, was Octopussy in the film of the same name in 1983 and also made an uncredited appearance in “A View To A Kill”, Roger Moore’s last Bond film in 1985

• Serena Scott Thomas starred alongside Pierce Brosnan in The World Is Not Enough in 1999

Moore’s planned autobiography, whose working title is “My Word is my Bond”, will tell his real life story. Moore said in a statement that he would like to write “a warm, amusing, and maybe even slightly emotional volume”. His book is expected to be published next year.
