Salman Khan faces 5 years of jail

August 24th, 2007

Just celebrating the release of my Sanju Baba on bail, and heard that Salman Khan is going to go in. I am gutted, he’s my favourite. It’s not like that I was hoping for a miracle to happen for Salman Khan or get bail or somehow just escape from the outcome of his deeds. As they say “jaisi karni waisi bharni”, so here he is paying for his deeds. Salman is handed a five year jail term for hunting the endangered Chinkara.

I always thought that Salman is a very gutsy man and he can face the world with dignity, irrespective of any crime he had done and that he will face the consequences of his deeds very bravely like Sanjay Dutt. But I am disappointed to see that he was hiding in his house to skip his court hearing in Jodhpur today and also made up a false story of missing his flight for Jodhpur. I think Salman Khan has tremendously disappointed his fans by doing this and he will always be remembered as a “Bhagoda” for hiding. He really shocked everybody when he appeared on his balcony to show to the world that he is not running from the law……..Bullshit!

I will say Salman Khan has done a very big mistake, he should have taken tips from Sanjay Dutt. Hiding will not do any good for you, be a man and surrender yourself, after all you have killed people and a very rare species “chinkara”.

According to the Media News, Salman Khan is likely to be arrested on Sunday by a 6-member special team that will be dispatched on Saturday and will be taken to Jodhpur by train. I think he should take a flight to Jodhpur and surrender himself to the police.

Dinesh Kumar, SHO Udaimandir Police Station, revealed

We will board the 3 pm Ranakpur Express (4707) which will reach Bandra next day by 11:30 am. Salman is likely to be taken to Jodhpur by this train probably next day. We will take the Mumbai Police along with us and arrest Salman Khan. He will be kept in Udaimandir Police Station till further orders.

Paying for his deeds:

  • In 1998, while in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, to shoot for a song sequence for Rajshri Films’ Hum Saath Saath Hain, Salman and several co-stars went hunting in the nearby Thar Desert. The group strayed into a Bishnoi-dominated area, where Salman shot and killed two black bucks – an endangered species that is illegal to hunt.
  • In 1999, the industry was abuzz with rumours that Salman Khan had physically abused his then girlfriend Aishwarya Rai. Rai’s family in a complaint stated that they “should not be held responsible for any untoward incident involving the actor.” This was however not the first time that Khan had been accused of ill treating his partner. Rumors had always existed that Salman had physically abused his former girlfriend, Pakistani actress Somy Ali which had caused her to flee the city and the industry.
  • Thereafter Salman was accused of harassing Vivek Oberoi as Aishwarya had moved on and was dating Oberoi. It is believed that Khan had made numerous obscene and angry calls( to be precise 41 calls) and sent smses to Vivek in one night causing him to hold a press conference the following day.
  • In 2002 Salman Khan was caught in on of the biggest legal cases of his life. He was charged of killing one person and injuring three others when Khan allegedly drove into a group of homeless people sleeping on a pavement near a bakery in suburban Mumbai on September 28th. Despite the fact that there was a policeman in Khan’s car given to him for protection from the mafia, the actor absconded from the scene. Although he later claimed that he felt his life was threatened by the mob that formed after the accident, some suspected he’d wanted to avoid a blood-alcohol test. Khan faces 10 charges, including causing death by negligent driving which carries two years in prison. He has pleaded not guilty on all counts.

On February 17, 2006, the Chinkara case got Salman back into the limelight. He was sentenced to one year in prison for hunting an endangered species, the Chinkara. The sentence was stayed by a higher court during appeal.

On April 10, 2006, Salman was handed a five year jail term for hunting the endangered Chinkara. He was remanded to Jodhpur jail, and remained there until April 13, when he was granted bail. The case came up for hearing today (Aug 24) and as things stand Khan will be heading to jail on Monday, August 27th 2007.

I think now Vivek Oberio doesn’t have to bow down and ask for anything from Salman, as Vivek will be ruling the industry now.
