Moment of Glory for men in blue hijacked by BCCI officials and Politicians. BCCI Officials and Politicians made it like a Political Rally, what was meant to be the felicitation ceremony for the Twenty20 World Cup champions. It was expected that Dhoni and his boys would take centrestage, but BCCI officials and Politicians placed themselves on the front row, completely overshadowing the proud winners of the trophy. If that was enough, RR Patil and Sharad Pawar started glorifying Maharastra in their speech, as if it was Maharastra team who won the world cup. RR Patil went a step ahead and said, "Sharad Pawar should be credited with the victory". Someone should ask him, "Did he select the team or he bowled out Pakistanis in the Final?" ...

 

The Magic of "Chak De India"

Lately, India had lot of success in sports. Is it really the magic of "Chak De India"?  First it was Football, then Hockey and now Cricket. The magic started with the Indian football team creating history after lifting their first ever Nehru Cup title with a 1-0 win over a 10-man Syria in a tough final played in Delhi. Next in Hockey, when India retained Asia Cup beating South Korea 7-2 in a hard fought final in Chennai, and Now Cricket, India beat Pakistan in the World Twenty20 final by five runs to clinch their first major trophy since 1983.  The title song of the Bollywood hit movie "Chak De India" is now an integral part of Indian sport.

 Ex-Israel coach Avram Grant, 51, will be the new Chelsea manager.  According to the Garry Richardson of BBC Sport, Chelsea's director of football Avram Grant is set to take over as new manager following the shock departure of Jose Mourinho. Avram Grant, who was the director of football, will now take charge with Steve Clarke as his assistant. Ex-Israel coach Grant, 51, was appointed by Chelsea at the start of this season and holds a place on the club's board. India to Host First Formula One Race in 2010

The wait for an F1 race in India just got longer. It is now going to make its debut in India in 2010, and not in October 2009 as announced earlier in June. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) said on Monday it was on course to stage a Formula One grand prix after an inspection of possible sites around New Delhi. Two sites, Sohna in Gurgaon and Greater Noida have been identified for the race - both sites are in the National Capital Region. The sites were shortlisted after F1 chief architect Herman Tilke's recent visit to India.
