Wafaa Yaakoub, a 23-year-old teacher from the Law Faculty of Bahrain University, is crowned as Miss Arab World 2007 after nearly six hours of contest on 28th July, Saturday. The 25-year-old Miss Egypt Shaimma Mansour and Miss Lebanon Abeer Layous, 23, became first and second runner-up. Seventeen women from 15 countries attended the final competition at the closing ceremony of the second Miss Arab World Contest. The second Miss Arab World Contest has taken off in Egypt, with the participation of some 19 contestants. According to the organizing committee at a press conference, the candidates to the contest came from 16 Arab countries, including Egypt, Lebanon, Sudan, Iraq, Bahrain,Saudi Arab, Libya and Palestine.
